Mayor Fernando Shipley

My name is Fernando Shipley and I am living the American dream. I was born in Mexico and immigrated to the United States when I was 5 years old. I own and operate my own business, I was the first person in my family to graduate from college and now I am the Mayor of Globe. It all seems too good to be true but the United States is truly the land of opportunity where everyone has a chance to succeed if they work hard and pursue their dreams.

My wife Denise and I have three wonderful children. We are involved with all their activities as well as several others. I serve on several boards such as the Globe-Miami Chamber of Commerce, Cobre Valley Community Hospital, Arizona Rural Development Commission, Globe Clean & Beautiful and I am a youth minister. I also serve on a few others but let’s not remind my wife about that.

Globe is a wonderful place to live and it has tremendous opportunity for a prosperous future. We have a wonderful climate, great people and an impressive history. One of my main goals as the Mayor of Globe is to continue to work towards diversifying our economy so that we are not dependent on one or two major industries. I also want to take advantage of our beautiful historic downtown and our proximity to the outdoors to draw more visitors and tourism. Visitors are a great way to help sustain our local economy and yet they do not place a high demand on costly services.

Globe is a great place to live and visit, but we have room for improvement. We all have to work together to make it all that it can be. If you have any ideas or concerns please feel free to share them with me.
