City of Globe Notice of Intent and Public Hearing to Increase Sales Tax

The City Council of the City of Globe, Arizona will hold a public hearing on a proposed change to the Tax Code of the City of Globe pursuant to A.R.S. § 42-6054.  The proposed changes may include increasing the sales tax rate for all retail which is currently set at 2.3% to a total amount not to exceed of 3.3%, excluding Retail Food for Home Consumption.  If the ordinance is adopted, then the sales tax increase will be effective August 1, 2022.  

 

                     The hearing will be held at the City of Globe Council Chambers, 150 N Pine Street, Globe, Arizona 85501 at 6:00 p.m. on May 24, 2022.

 

A copy of the proposed amendment to the City Tax Code is available from the City Clerk, at 150 North Pine Street, Globe, Arizona 85501, and is available for review during normal office hours:  Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Persons wishing to comment on the proposed amendment may do so, in writing, prior to the public hearing to be held at the date listed above or may provide testimony in person at the hearing.  Additional information can be obtained on the City website at www.globeaz.gov or by calling (928) 415-7146. 

 

Following the public hearing, the City Council may adopt, modify, or disapprove the proposed amendment to the City Tax Code
