Who We Are?

The Police Department for the City of Globe is a 24/7 operation that consists of the Chief, the Administrative Services Division, Patrol and Criminal Investigations. The Administrative Services Division is made up of employees involved in records management and communications.  The Patrol Division is staffed by sworn officers and supervisors assigned to patrol.  The Criminal Investigation Division carry out the investigation of crimes.  All of these functions are accomplished with a department budget of $3.3 million for the year.

Currently there are 28 Police Department employees, with 24 Sworn Officers, and 4 administrative employees.

We are located 87 miles east of Phoenix and 106 miles north of Tucson.  The City of Globe was founded in 1876 and now serves as the county seat of Gila County.  The City’s economic base is mining and ranching, both of which play a major factor in the City’s economy.

Globe is located at the foot of the Pinal Mountains at an elevation of 3500 ft.  Globe offers an ideal year-round climate.  Outdoor recreation opportunities include hiking, off-road driving, hunting, fishing, and boating in the public lands surrounding Globe.

Globe has a colorful history, punctuated by mining discoveries.  Originally settled as a mining town due to its ample water resources, plus its convenient location for distribution of mining products.  The city was incorporated in 1907. 

With a population of approximately 7500, it has a small- town feel, where everyone knows everyone else.
