NRCS CREEK PROJECT UPDATE:
At the July 14th meeting, council received an update from Tiffany Construction and Civil Tech. We are pleased to learn that all major sediment removals have now been completed. Crews have removed approximately 48K cubic yards of sediment from the 2.8 miles stretch of the creek within the Globe city limits. Phase 1 of the project is now 90% complete, utilizing only 40% of the allocated funding, reflecting efficient project management and cost savings. The project is now transitioning into Phase 2, which focuses on bank stabilization in accordance with Civil Tech’s engineering plans. Stabilization efforts will concentrate on protecting exiting structures, businesses, homes, and roadways. Nine priority areas have been identified along the creek for this work.
To strengthen the creek banks, crews will install approximately 16K cubic yards of large angular rock over a prepared base with underlying material. This method is both cost effective and efficient because of the angular rock interlocks, creating a durable and stable structure that will also extend 6 to 8 feet deep in the ground at the base of wall. Phase 2 is expected to take approximately five weeks to complete.
Planning is also underway for Phase 3, which will focus on the design and construction of permanent retaining walls and using shotcrete in areas that need additional stabilization. Civil Tech is completing the engineering designs, and the city will pursue additional funding during the second round of NRCS EWP funding opportunities. As part of the project’s long-term success, Civil Tech will also provide a simplified Operations and Maintenance Plan, including a baseline maintenance program, ongoing sediment management recommendations, and guidance for future permitting and maintenance to help preserve the creek’s capacity and protect our community.
GLOBE POST FLOOD RECOVERY EFFORTS:
The City of Globe has posted an Emergency Response Timeline from September 25, 2026 to July, 2026. This timeline can be reviewed at the city of Globe website under Flood Information
PINAL CREEK EASEMENTS APPROVED:
At a Special Council meeting held on July 21st, Council approved sixteen Resolutions from individuals and businesses for permanent public drainage easements as part of the ongoing sediment removal project in our waterways.
SOIL AND DEBRI REMOVAL:
Do you need help removing post-flood soil and debri? You are encouraged to call, to be put on a list at 928-473-4403 or 928-961-1428. You need to provide your name, address, phone number, email address, and a description of requested removal. Team Rubicon is organizing potential volunteer teams, Tiffany Construction is donating their labor and equipment to collect and transport post flood debri to Apache Junction, and United Fund will cover all landfill fees.
ONLINE INTER-ACTIVE ZONING MAPPING:
The City of Globe has upgraded its online interactive zoning mapping program, making it easier than ever for both residents and businesses to access important property information. Using the interactive map, you can search by parcel number or property address to quickly find -- zoning district information, floodway and floodplain designations, city limits, and other property related details.
This upgraded tool provides convenient, reliable, and immediate access to information that previously required contacting or visiting multiple sites. By bringing these resources together in one place, the city is improving accessibility, reducing downtime, and making it easier for residents, property owners, developers, and businesses to find the information they need anytime. We encourage you to take advantage of this new online resource.
PHI MEMBERSHIP - ENROLL BEFORE AUGUST 12:
The annual PHI flight insurance membership was not renewed for city of Globe residents this year due to revenue losses as we recover from the flood. We encourage all residents to self-renew their membership. The special cost for City of Globe residents for the renewal is $30.00 per year for your entire household if done before August 12, 2026.
