STATE OF GLOBE - ONE YEAR LATER: One year ago, our community experienced one of the most challenging days in Globe's history. As we approach the anniversary of the September 26th flood, city staff are planning a special “State of Globe” event to commemorate this significant milestone. Together, we will remember the lives lost, reflect on the progress made during recovery, and recognize the resilience and compassion that have defined our community throughout the past year. LEAGUE OF ARIZONA CITIES AND TOWNS CONFERENCE: I attended the weeklong annual League of Arizona Cities and Towns Conference in Scottsdale along with fellow council members. The conference provides an important opportunity for municipal leaders from across Arizona to come together, share ideas, discuss challenges, and learn from one another's experiences. I was honored to participate in two panels: one on economic development, where I discussed the Hill Street School Project, and another on disaster preparedness, where I shared Globe's experiences with wildfire and flood response.
For rural communities, the League is especially important because smaller towns often have limited staff, financial resources, and lobbying capacity. Through the League, rural municipalities gain access to expertise, legislative advocacy, and peer networks that they might otherwise lack. The organization helps ensure that rural concerns such as infrastructure, water resources, public safety, transportation, and economic development are heard alongside those of larger cities.
FLOOD DEBRI REMOVAL: Council approved a contract with Viking Specialty Contracting to provide flood debris sorting services at the temporary debris site located at the Community Center following the September 26th flood event. The cost of the services is $20,306.40. The city will submit this project to the Arizona Division of Emergency Management (DEMA) for 75% reimbursement. This work represents the first step in completing the removal and disposal of flood-related debris from this location.

RESOLUTION 1961: A resolution of the Mayor and Council of the City of Globe, Gila County, State of Arizona, declaring and adopting the results of the Primary Election held on July 21, 2026. The results include the re-election of District 4 Mike Stapleton, District 6 Fernando Shipley, District 3 Jesse Leetham, and newly elected District 5 Mathew Storm.
NEW PUBLIC COMMENT PROCESS AT COUNCIL MEETINGS: The Globe City Council is implementing a new public comment process to ensure meetings are conducted efficiently while providing multiple opportunities for public participation.
Call to the Public (Non-Agenda Items):
Individuals wishing to speak during the Call to the Public must complete a speaker card and turn into the Clerk.
Speakers will be provided with three (3) minutes to address the Council as a whole.
Council members may listen to comments but cannot respond.
Agenda Items:
Members of the public may speak on agenda items by filling out a speaker card.
Council may engage in discussion and conversation regarding agenda items as permitted by law.
Text Messages During Meetings:
Public comments submitted through text messages during a meeting will not be monitored or accepted as part of the public comment process.
Public Comments:
Written comments submitted through the public comment portal on the Webpage must be received by 2:00 p.m. on the day of the meeting to be printed and provided to Council members and posted on the Webpage before the meeting.
Public comments received after 2:00 p.m. or during the meeting will be shared with the Council and posted on the Webpage by the next business day.
