SS4A Beginning Nov. 10 - Nov. 12

DATE: November 4, 2026

Issued By: City of Globe

GLOBE, AZ – Beginning Tuesday, November 10th to Thursday, November 12th the City

of Globe is moving forward with a federal Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A)

demonstration safety project initiative designed to immediately improve traffic and

pedestrian safety along the Broad Street Corridor. Funded by a U.S. Department of

Transportation grant, the project will serve as a 10-month temporary demonstration to test

real-world traffic treatments before the City commits to permanent infrastructure

investments.

Crews will soon be active on-site completing the targeted safety enhancements.

Motorists, commuters, and local citizens are advised that active work zones may cause

temporary traffic delays, brief lane restrictions, or minor disruptions. The City requests

that drivers plan for extra travel time, reduce speeds, and exercise heightened caution

when navigating through these construction areas.

The targeted safety enhancements will focus heavily on the corridor between Cottonwood

Street and Yuma Street.

Planned installations include:

• Broad Street and Cottonwood Street: Flashing stop signs, painted curb extensions

(bump-outs) with flexible delineator posts, and a ladder-style crosswalk.

• Broad Street and Yuma Street: Flashing stop signs, painted curb extensions

(bump-outs) with flexible delineator posts, and a ladder-style crosswalk.

• Intermediate Intersections: Consistent, highly visible ladder-style crosswalks at all

major intersections between Cottonwood and Yuma.

These low-cost treatments aim to increase driver awareness at stop signs, shorten

crossing distances for pedestrians, and significantly improve visibility for all road users.

Community feedback is a key piece of this safety evaluation. The City will launch public

outreach midway through the 10-month demonstration period to gather direct input from

residents, business owners, and commuters regarding the effectiveness of the new

treatments.
