A Message from Mayor Al Gameros To our residents and our community. As you are all aware of, tonight our community has experienced an unthinkable, devastating flood event. Our primary objective tonight is search and rescue due to numerous vehicles that have been swept into the wash. Currently our local swift water teams are in the process of searching all the washes. We have also dispatched additional Search and Rescue teams from both Maricopa and Pinal County and they are currently in route. DPS helicopter is also assisting. At the same time we have crews working to stabilize the highway in order to get it back open again. There are numerous vehicles and propane tanks throughout the highway that need to be secured and cleared before the highway can be open. I want to reassure our community that while there may not be frequent updates at this moment, it is because the City of Globe is in an active emergency mode. I will be declaring a State of Emergency for the City of Globe to ensure we can continue to mobilize resources and support recovery efforts. We know residents and businesses are anxious, especially with more rain on the way. Official updates will be shared through the City of Globe App, Facebook, and the City’s website, and we encourage everyone to sign up for app notifications.

Expect delays and lane restrictions for flooding cleanup efforts

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for the following lane restrictions on US 60 from Miami (milepost 243) to Claypool (milepost 247) for roadway cleanup following recent monsoon flooding:

East- and westbound US 60 will be reduced to one lane between mileposts 243 and 247 daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, through Thursday, Oct. 2.
Drivers can expect delays as heavy equipment removes debris and material from the roadway.

Plan for daytime lane restrictions on US 60 west of Miami Sept. 15-19
The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for the following lane restrictions on US 60, approximately 3 miles west of Miami, for roadway improvements:

US 60 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction with alternating east- and westbound travel between mileposts 240 and 243 daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, through Thursday, Sept. 18, and from 6 a.m. to noon Friday, Sept. 19.
Flaggers and a pilot car will direct drivers through the work zone.
An 11-foot vehicle width restriction will be in place until further notice.
The speed limit will be reduced to 25 mph in the work zone.
Motorists should allow extra travel time, use caution, be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching and traveling through all work zones.

This work is separate from the US 60, Queen Creek and Waterfall Canyon Bridges Replacement Project east of Superior.
