Globe Active Adult Center
The Holiday Meal Campaign that gives all year long! Our 2nd Annual Holiday Meal Campaign begins November 1 and lasts through December 31, 2011. Each day, Monday through Friday, the Globe Active Adult Center delivers delicious, nutritious meals to seniors and the disabled struggling with hunger through Meals On Wheels. Included with every meal is a wellness check and a friendly chat. Our goal is to support the independence and well-being of our homebound neighbors. Meals On Wheels is so much more than a meal!
Thanks to the Wal-Mart Foundation and Store #1334 (our local store), the Globe Active Adult Center has received a grant for $2000 for our Meals On Wheels diners. We challenge the community to exceed this grant! Statistics and life stories tell that living in your own home is healthier and less expensive than assisted care for individuals, and their communities. Together, we can be part of the solution…please make your check payable to City of Globe Holiday Meal Campaign or drop it off at the Globe Active Adult Center, 579 S. Broad Street, Globe, AZ 85501. January Activity Schedule
Our Mission is to enhance the quality of life of the seniors in Globe and the surrounding community with a wide range of diverse activities to meet their meal, transportation, social, and other personal needs.
We provide year-round operation at the Globe Senior Center
- Delicious, nutritious lunches on site and home-delivered meals
- Transportation for seniors to and from the Center
- Special events involving seniors and the community
- Provide social services with legal assistance, social security issues, health insurance and more
- Offer information and referral to other social service agencies
- Wide variety of volunteer opportunities
We are able to provide these services through the following funding sources, City of Globe General Funds, Grants / Title V funds from Pinal-Gila Council of Senior Citizens, Area Agency on Aging, USDA Funds, Gila County, Project Income, ALTCS, Donations, and Funds raised from special events.
At the Senior Center we offer various games, cards, a pool table and puzzles to enjoy with your friends, or you can take part in classes or programs we offer.
