City of Globe Building Safety Department;

Whether you are going through a minor remodeling job or major construction, the Building Official wants your project to be a success. Building safety professionals play a major role in keeping the public safe. They can also help avoid potential problems that could put you at risk and cost you time and money.

Before you begin any work that involves construction, visit our local Building Safety Department. We will explain the process, which may include obtaining a building permit, plan review and inspection. The process is designed to protect the home or building owner and the occupants. The Building Official helps ensure that all residential and commercial buildings, and places of public assembly are built to required building safety codes, which address structural stability, fire safety, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, sanitation, energy efficiency, flood protection and more. The building safety department is responsible for protecting public health, safety and welfare through effective code enforcement.

Proper use of the building codes are verified by the City of Globe through a three-tiered process - plan review, permit issuance and inspection.

Plan Review

Building plans must be submitted to be reviewed to determine compliance with the building, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical codes set forth in the adopted codes as well as the City of Globes engineering and planning & zoning requirements.

Permits

Construction permits are issued after review and approval of construction plans. A completed permit application and plans must be submitted to the City prior to beginning any construction project. Contact our office to determine if a permit is required for your proposed construction.

Inspections

Once a permit is issued, inspections are required at different phases of a project, and are performed to ensure construction is in accordance with approved plans and City adopted codes. Inspectors and permit technicians attend regular training to keep up-to-date with construction and technological changes.
