This closure is necessary to protect public safety and allow crews to continue critical cleanup and recovery operations in the downtown area.

On Monday, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Jesse Hayes Road will be closed to through traffic.
✅ Local traffic will be permitted.
⚠️ This closure is necessary for ongoing cleanup and to ensure the safety of crews and volunteers working in the area.

MAYOR MESSAGE (10-4-2025)
It is truly amazing to see how much has been accomplished just seven days after the flood. The progress is a testament to the resilience and strength of our community and the incredible volunteers who have stepped up to help. Thank you for showing up, for caring, and for making a difference.
Our staff continues to work tirelessly to ensure that all necessary procedures are properly completed and documented, in order to secure the highest level of funding available. They are coordinating closely with DEMA, state officials, and consulting with experts who are well versed in this process.
The ultimate goal is to meet the required dollar threshold that allows us to submit our case to the Governor’s Office. From there, it can be passed on to the federal level for a Federal Disaster Declaration, a key step in unlocking additional federal funding for our communities.
To support this effort, both the City of Globe and the Town of Miami signed local emergency declarations the next day after the flooding. The county, in turn, issued a broader emergency declaration covering Globe, Miami, County areas, and San Carlos. All three communities are working together, and the total damage assessments from each area will contribute to meeting the combined threshold required for a federal declaration.
We truly understand the frustration and urgency many are feeling, wanting immediate answers, support, and relief. Please know that we hear you. However, the process to secure state and federal disaster assistance is complex and must be carefully documented at every step. Meeting all the requirements takes time, but is essential to ensure our communities receive the full support and funding they need and deserve.
The city has also established its own Emergency Operations Center and now has a temporary Emergency Manager on staff, working directly under the city’s leadership. At the same time, we remain under the broader umbrella of the county Emergency Manager, maintaining a coordinated response effort.
This flood event has drawn both state and national attention, prompting on-site visits from Governor Hobbs, Senator Gallego, and Congressman Crane. We are also grateful for the full support received from Senator Kelly, and Congressman Biggs. There presence and commitment underscore the seriousness of the situation and reinforce the unified effort to bring the necessary resources and recovery support to our region.
During discussions with our Legislatures, we were assured that the current federal government shutdown will not affect or delay our pursuit of a federal disaster declaration, which is good news for our communities.
As I have mentioned, state and federal assistance takes time due to the necessary documentation and approval process. While we continue working toward that long term support, the quickest way to get immediate help to our residents and local businesses is through cash donations to the United Fund of Globe-Miami.
The United Fund is partnering with Local First Arizona and the Salvation Army to begin the distributing funds as early as next week. These donations will directly support those affected in both Globe and Miami.

As many of you know, First Friday was born during a time of deep community need, the pandemic, as a way to lift one another up and stay connected. Today, we face another moment of need. This time, we must pause the event so we can come together in a different way: by focusing fully on recovery, healing, and supporting those directly impacted.
With this in mind, October’s First Friday is cancelled.
We are exploring ways to reschedule the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb and Globe Fire Department Open House and will share updates as soon as we are able.
