The City of Globe is currently managing a 12-inch water line break in one of the two lines that feed our tank system. Because of its location, repairs cannot be made right away.
Our water system remains fully functional for all City Water customers, although we are operating on diminished capacity to refill our City water tank system. Customers may experience lower than normal water pressure. The remaining 12” water line will continue to fill our water tanks until repairs can safely be completed.
The City is in the process of obtaining bottled water to assist residents should the need arise.
We’re asking everyone to conserve water where possible and please postpone laundry, outdoor watering, and other non-essential uses for now.
City crews are closely monitoring the situation and working toward a solution. We’ll continue to share updates as they become available.
Thank you for helping us protect our community’s water supply.
The City of Globe is currently experiencing active flooding in multiple areas.
Please stay out of all low-lying areas and avoid travel through Downtown Globe.
⚠️ US 60 near City Hall is currently closed due to flooding.
Do not attempt to drive through water-covered roads.
Residents are urged to shelter in place if safe, or move to higher ground if you are in a flood-prone area.
Please follow all official emergency alerts and updates from Gila County Emergency Management and the City of Globe.

WEATHER TIMELINE FOR GLOBE: Hurricane Priscilla has weakened significantly as it moved northward off the coast of Mexico and is now considered a post-tropical remnant. While the storm itself is dissipating far to the southwest, the tropical moisture it is pulling into the region is causing the hazardous conditions.
Saturday, October 11 – Showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue throughout the day and into the night. The risk of flash flooding is highest during this period.
Sunday, October 12 – Showers will continue, with the Flood Watch remaining in effect.
Monday, October 13 – The Flood Watch will expire at midnight. Showers are likely, followed by a slight chance of showers on Tuesday.
Tropical Storm Raymond’s moisture is arriving in Arizona on the heels of Tropical Storm Priscilla. Raymond’s moisture is expected to begin sending heavy rain into eastern and southern Arizona, that could affect the Globe area on October 11th.

CURFEW CONTINUES: Due to public safety concerns related to potential flooding and to support emergency response efforts, a curfew was initiated that began Friday night. This curfew affects the areas between the current barricades that have been identified from Bailey Street, north to the entrance of Broad Street at the Railroad Trestle. This will be in effect from dusk to dawn. All businesses outside the barricade area remain open. Please continue to support these businesses during this time.
• Time Frame: Dusk to Dawn
• End Time: Through Tuesday, unless conditions improve sooner
City staff will continuously monitor weather developments, and the curfew timeframe may be adjusted as conditions change. We appreciate your cooperation as we take proactive measures to ensure the safety of our residents and protect our community.
PROPANE TANKS REMOVED: The propane tanks were removed and were relocated to a higher ground area. This protective measure was initiated by the City with Matlock Gas with consultation from Gila County in anticipation of the upcoming storms, to protect life safety, property, and the environment.
RED CROSS SHELTER: This is a reminder that the American Red Cross is still open for limited support services at Lee Kornegay School, 4635 Railroad Avenue in Claypool. The hours of operation are 9am to 7pm.
PUBLIC SAFETY: The city has increased fire and police personnel for the weekend. These additional personnel are on standby to respond to any emergencies and will actively monitor creeks and waterways as rainfalls intensifies.
We continue to pray that both tropical systems spare our community from heavy and devastating rainfall as we work toward recovery. Thank you for your continued cooperation and support. Please stay alert to official updates and remain safe.
Heavy rainfall is expected. Please:

TO OUR RESIDENTS. Continue to monitor all weather updates for this weekend regarding the remnants of Hurricane Priscilla. Current forecasts indicate that Arizona may experience significant rainfall starting Thursday and continuing through the weekend. The Globe area lies on the eastern edge of the projected impact zone starting on Friday.
We strongly encourage all residents to sign up for real time flood alerts at:
• Ready Gila.com – Click Sign Up – Ready Gila Alerts
• Download the City of Globe App
• Follow the City of Globe Website and Facebook
If you live in lower lying areas, such as Jesse Hayes Road, please have a plan in place to move to higher ground if flood alerts are issued. Being prepared can make all the difference.
SAND BAGS: The cleanup efforts in both the business district and residential areas have been nothing short of amazing over the past week. We sincerely thank everyone who has contributed to the recovery process.
As we prepare for this weekend’s storms, it is vital that we take steps to protect the progress we have made. Sandbags are currently being filled and will be available for those who need them at the following locations in Globe:
• Globe Public Works Yard: 150 Hagen Road
• Globe High School Parking Lot: 437 South High Street
• Dixon Rocks & Materials: 1990 E. Ash Street
• Gila County Public Works Globe, 1001 Besich Blvd.
We encourage residents and business owners, especially those in flood prone areas, to pick up sandbags and take precautionary measures now before the storms arrive.
TANK REMOVAL: We understand the public concern regarding the propane tanks that were displaced by recent high-water levels. Please know that City of Globe staff has been working diligently to safely and legally mitigate this potential hazard.
After careful consideration, we have made the decision to take immediate action and absorb the costs associated with removing propane bottles that pose an immediate threat ahead of this weekend’s storm. Beginning today, crews are actively removing approximately 200 empty propane tanks currently located in the flood way on the property of Matlock Gas, under a Right of Entry Agreement. While we continue to work through the citation process with Gila County officials to address the remaining stored tanks on Jesse Hayes Road, we simply cannot afford to wait any longer. The safety of our residents and the protection of their property must come first.
CURFEW: Due to public safety concerns related to potential flooding, an emergency curfew will be in effect on Broad Street, from Bailey Street to North Broad Street and Highway 60 on Friday night until Tuesday. This will be in effect from dusk to dawn.
• Start Time: Dusk to dawn starting Friday night
• End Time: Through Tuesday, unless conditions improve sooner
City staff will continuously monitor weather developments, and the curfew timeframe may be adjusted as conditions change. We appreciate your cooperation as we take proactive measures to ensure the safety of our residents and protect our community.
Propane Tank Removal
City of Globe Takes Action to Protect Residents Prior to Weekend Storms
The City of Globe is currently removing propane tanks from the Matlock property prior to the weekend storm events using local contractors. The City has entered into an agreement with Matlock Propane to allow the City to safely relocate the tanks to higher ground owned by the City of Globe. The City has consulted with officials representing the Gila County Emergency Management and is acting in compliance with ADEQ and federal guidelines to ensure community and environmental safety. Please take extra care when traveling along Jesse Hayes Rd. near the Matlock site.

Hurricane Priscilla to hit much of Arizona, beginning Thursday, Oct. 9, and persisting through
the weekend.
Motorists are encouraged to remember the following:
Expect the unexpected. Excessive rainfall can result in unplanned highway closures, so
plan ahead and pack an emergency travel kit that includes a full-charged cell phone,
extra drinking water, snacks, first aid kit, prescription medication and a flashlight.
Go to the source. For weather forecasts, check the National Weather Service website at https://tinyurl.com/mp9nj8d and for real-time traffic info, check az511.gov and download the AZ511 app.

Drivers headed to the Globe-Miami area should check AZ511 for the latest road
conditions, restrictions or closures.
Avoid flooded roads and washes. Water is a powerful force that should not be
underestimated. Even a few inches of running water poses a serious risk.
Do not drive around or through “Road Closed” signs. Unsafe conditions or emergency
responders could be working in the roadway.
If traffic lights are out, treat an intersection just like a four-way stop.
Slow down on wet roads, don’t tailgate and allow plenty of braking room.
When in doubt, wait it out!
If you see heavy rain ahead, sometimes it’s best to postpone travel plans.
If your wipers are on, turn on your headlights. Before traveling, check that your wiper
blades aren’t cracked or broken from the summer heat.

Properly stacked sandbags can make a big difference in helping divert water away from homes and businesses during heavy rain. Here are a few simple tips to get the most out of your efforts:
1. Lay Plastic Sheeting (if available): Place plastic between your structure and the first row of bags to help seal out water.
2. Build a Solid Base: Lay the first row of sandbags end-to-end, overlapping like bricks to prevent gaps.
3. Stack in a Pyramid Shape: Each new layer should be staggered - offset the seams and stack no more than three bags high.
4. Tuck and Compact: Tuck each bag’s flap under before setting it down, then gently step or press on each bag to form a tight seal.
5. Direct, Don’t Block Water: Sandbags work best to divert water flow around your structure, not to hold it back completely. Avoid placing walls that could trap or redirect water into another property or roadway.
Once flood risk passes, please dispose of used sandbags safely, especially those that may have come into contact with floodwater.

The City of Globe, in partnership with Gila County and local volunteers, has sandbags available to help residents prepare for additional rain and potential runoff.
📍 Locations:
- City of Globe Public Works Yard – 150 S. Hagen Rd (pre-filled bags and dirt pile available for self-fill)
- TeePee area in Downtown Globe (next to the Globe Public Library at 339 S. Broad St. )
- Globe High School (available through Globe Unified School District, thank you!)
- Dixon Rocks & Materials - 1990 E Ash St.
- Gila County Public Works Yard – Rose Mofford Dr.
Volunteers and staff are actively filling sandbags throughout the day. Please be patient, the need is great, and sandbags are being picked up as quickly as they are placed out.
Residents are encouraged to collect sandbags before flooding begins, as conditions can change quickly once rain starts. Please take only what you need so supplies can reach everyone.

Notice to Commercial Property Owners
The City of Globe has arranged for a third-party engineering team to conduct safety assessments of commercial buildings impacted by the recent flood event. These inspections are required to evaluate the effect of the flood on each property and the interaction between neighboring buildings to determine whether buildings are safe for public use.
When: Wednesday and Thursday of this week (10/8/2025 and 10/9/2025)
Where: Commercial buildings impacted by the flood
What to Expect:
• Engineers will begin site visits early Wednesday morning and continue through Thursday evening. Evaluations are focused on evaluating the effects of the flood on the structures.
• Property owners or representatives must have someone on site to provide access and information.
• Rapid assessments have been underway or completed. A posted placard will then be posted on the structure:
o Green = Safe for public use
o Yellow = Restricted use
o Red = Unsafe / No entry permitted
_____________________________
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I have to have an assessment?
A: Yes. All commercial properties in the flood path must have a Rapid Assessment to determine their safety for occupancy and public use.
Q: What if my building is posted with a Yellow or Red placard?
A: If you receive a Yellow (restricted use) or Red (unsafe) placard, a structural assessment is required and you may also seek at your own cost a secondary engineers assessment from an AZ licensed structural engineer.
Q: Will the assessment cost me anything?
A: No. The City of Globe has arranged for these third-party Engineering assessments at no cost to commercial property owners.
Q: Why is this necessary?
A: The recent flood event may have caused structural damage that is not immediately visible. These assessments ensure public health/safety, protect neighboring structures, protect business owners from liability, and help guide restoration efforts.
Q: What should I do if I believe my property was missed?
A: If you are in the flood path but were not contacted, please reach out to the City of Globe Building Department 1(928) 425-7146 x219, immediately to ensure your property is scheduled for assessment.
Q: Who will see the results of my assessment?
A: The results will be shared with the City of Globe Building Department, the property owner, or identified representative, once reports have been completed. Placards will be posted on buildings to clearly indicate safety status for the public.
Due to the ongoing flood recovery efforts, we have made the decision to postpone the State of The City Address at this time that was scheduled for this Thursday, October 9th. Our priority remains focused on supporting our residents and businesses as we continue working through this recovery process. A new date will be announced once the situation has stabilized, and more immediate needs have been addressed.
To all our community residents, please be aware of the potential for significant rainfall later this week as the remnants of Hurricane Priscilla approach. Rain chances are expected to begin increasing Thursday, with the heaviest rainfall likely Friday through the weekend.

Let us continue our prayers for our community that Mother Nature spares us from a repeat of the devastating rain we experienced last week.
To support the ongoing recovery process for our local businesses and residents, initial property evaluations are currently underway.
As part of this process, official notices will be posted on homes and businesses to indicate the safety status of each structure.
• A green indicates safe to enter and proceed with work.
• A yellow tag indicates some safety concerns are present-proceed with caution.
• A red tag indicates do not enter due to structural hazards.
These initial assessments are a critical step in ensuring the safety of all residents, workers, and visitors as recovery efforts continue. In addition, the City of Globe will be bringing in an outside technical assessment team, structural engineer, and a Fire Marshal for further assessment and evaluation of commercial buildings.
Business owners also have the option to hire their own independent engineers if they wish to obtain a second opinion or additional guidance. Our goal is to ensure that any buildings that are structurally safe can move forward with recovery efforts as quickly and safely as possible.
A decision has been made to keep the north end of Broad Street closed through this Sunday, October 12 to allow for ongoing business cleanup efforts and to maintain the security of private property.
Please note that some businesses within the restricted area are now open, with parking available outside of the closure. We encourage residents and visitors to support them as we continue recovery efforts. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work together to restore our community.
We continue to strongly encourage cash donations to the United Fund of Globe-Miami. This grant relief program has been created in partnership with Salvation Army; for coordination of the residential relief efforts, and with Local First Arizona, who will be coordinating the Business Flood Relief grant for affected local businesses. The Salvation Army is now actively taking applications for the Residential Flood Relief Grant.
