Arson & K-9

The Globe Fire department currently has one of two certified accelerant K9 teams in the State of Arizona. Our Fire Marshal Joe Bracamonte & his partner K9 Evo, a 5 year old Belgian Malanois have become a dynamic duo. K9 Evo is certified through the North American Police Work Dog Association as accelerant and article detection K9. K9 Evo went through vigorous training in 5 key areas: obedience, building search, area search, article search, and accelerant detection.

K9 Evo is a busy employee. K9 Evo trains 16 hours a month with Gila County Sheriff’s Office K9 Units. She once served on the Pinal County Fire Investigation Task Force and has deployed over 160 times. Her assignments have been in 10 different Arizona Counties, collaboration with the FBI, State Land and US Forest Service. Fire Marshal Joe and K9 Evo travel to various locations via C308. C308 is a custom 2005 Chevy Tahoe for K9 use and was donated by the City of Chandler.

In addition to her investigative duties, K9 Evo continuously serves the community. Often, you can find K9 Evo demonstrating her skills for the local schools and various organizations. The K9 Program is funded by public donation, if you would like to support this program or have K9 Evo visit your organization, please contact Fire Marshal Joe Bracamonte.
